Golf

Golf is a sport which requires a host of controlled and at times complex range of movements in order to achieve the optimum or ‘perfect’ swing. The golf swing places huge torsional stress throughout the body while in motion which affects the feet, knees, hip and back.

.

One of the more common injuries is back pain which can be derived by many variables including poor technical form, however for many people it is the many hours spent walking around the golf course that is the problem. A lot of stress is placed on the body in between holes if a biomechanical deficiency is present.

.

The primary role of the foot in the golf swing is to provide balance and orientation of the body throughout the swing. The slightest degree of postural misalignment can dramatically affect your ability to build a 'repetitive swing'. This is a fundamental element in becoming a more consistent golfer and one which is constantly overlooked.

A Footpro custom golf insole will stabilize your feet, evenly distribute weight, reduce postural fatigue and most importantly improve the overall comfort. The custom insoles will help control motion through the foot and effectively increase the efficiency of the linkage of lower limb and torso.

Injury Fact Sheet - Lower Back pain

-

Lower Back Pain (LBP) makes up a huge percentage of injuries and can be caused by either skeletal and/or muscular related issues. Muscle imbalance, leg length discrepancy, spine curvature, poor shock attenuation, shoe selection, poor foot mechanics and lack of shock attenuation, weak core and back muscles are a few of the contributing factors to lower back pain. It is always advisable to seek expert advice in regards to possible reasons you are experiencing lower back pain.

Step 1 Gait Analysis and Footscan

  • Differences in foot pressure and hip height can indicate possible cause for LBP but it is always helpful to get a full muscular skeletal assessment to ascertain the exact nature of lower back pain.

Step 2 Custom Moulded Insole

  • Footpro's custom insole can help attenuate harmful ground force shock while keeping your foot in its best possible position.

  • We also design a golf specific insole which focuses on golf specific biomechanics and specific pressure analysis will help to determine 1st ray plantar pressure throughout the golf swing phase.

Step 3 Footwear

  • Shoes that are either too soft or too hard will tend to de-stabilise the foot to a point where other muscles will have to compensate for this and the back will be place under higher levels of stress. Proper footwear is essential to reducing the risk of lower back injury.

  • Proper core and lower back exercises will also help in strengthening around the immediate area.
